Is diabetes run in your family? Do you feel like you are heading toward having diabetes? Or do you just want to prevent yourself from having diabetes? First of all let try to understand what diabetes is.


Diabetes also known as diabetes mellitus is a groups of diseases that result in too much sugar in the blood. When you eat your body turn food into sugar or glucose. Your body pancreas was supposed to release insulin, but with diabetes that system does not work. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are the most common one. Other is gestational diabetes which occurs during pregnancy. Which most likely will go away after birth.


What is the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, you may ask?
With type 1 diabetes the body’s immune system attacks part of the pancreas which contain insulin. Without the insulin the sugar stay and build up in the blood. With type 1, the person will have to take insulin injections. With type 2 diabetes, you don’t have to depend on insulin injections. Plus it is the most common diabetes. Most of the people that have type 2 diabetes is overweight.



Treatment will be to work out and eat healthy. Lose a few weight and watch what you eat. Stop smoking and drinking. Ask a doctor for some advice.
